Nicholson Bridge Day
The annual Nicholson Bridge Day will be held on September 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street in Nicholson to celebrate the 109th anniversary of the town’s landmark. The majestic structure of the huge rail road bridge, the Tunkhannock Viaduct, spans the valley with the town and Tunkhannock Creek below.

Hazleton Quilts of Valor chapter honors veteran
A Quilt of Valor was presented to Wapwallopen resident Sgt. Timothy J. Ammons by Marie Shulenski, group leader of the Hazleton Area Chapter of the Quilts of Valor Foundation. Shulenski was joined by Quilt of Valor member Debbie Kessell, as they represented members and volunteers all over the country. The organization began in 2003, when a quilter named Catherine Roberts started the movement as her son was deployed in Iraq.
