Former fiscal manager of Children's Advocacy Center charged with wire fraud
A former fiscal manager for the Children’s Advocacy Center of NEPA is facing federal wire fraud charges. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of P-A says 51-year-old Angela Saar of Olyphant diverted fraudulent payments from CAC/NEPA’s bank account to her own while she worked there between November 2018 and June 2022.

SCRANTON, Pa. - Court today granted a rule to show cause why the entire school board of Scranton should not be ousted from office. The rule was made returnable August 7. The petition for the ousting of the board members was presented by district Attorney Harold A. Scragg upon the recommendations of the members of the grand jury.

Inaugural Forty Fort Cemetery run/walk set for Sept. 14
Runners, walkers, and history buffs are invited to participate in the first Forty Fort Cemetery run/walk on Saturday, Sept. 14. The Inaugural Run/Walk Through History will feature 5K and 10K runs, a 1.5-mile walk and historical walking tours of the cemetery and the Forty Fort Meeting House, led by local history experts.

Weatherly Mayor Paul Hadzick presented three youngsters with Citizenship Certificates for their interest and concern in improvements and activities at Eurana Park this year. Wilkes-Barre man pleads guilty to shooting
A Wilkes-Barre man awaiting sentencing for shooting a man last year pleaded guilty Wednesday to criminal mischief and reckless endangerment charges stemming from a second shooting.
