Peoples Financial Services: Q2 Earnings Snapshot
SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) — SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) — Peoples Financial Services Corp. (PFIS) on Thursday reported net income of $3.3 million in its second quarter. The Scranton, Pennsylvania-based bank said it had earnings of 46 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for costs related to mergers and acquisitions, were 59 cents per share.

Some exciting news is coming out about the graduate plans of the Wyoming Area High School Class of 2024! It’s been reported to me that 83% of the Wyoming Area High School seniors will continue their education at post-secondary institutions of higher learning. This includes 59% of students in the graduating class who are enrolled in four-year schools of higher learning, 19% of students enrolled in community colleges and junior colleges. In addition, 7% have enrolled in technical and cosmetology schools or the armed services.

Hazleton Quilts of Valor chapter honors veteran
A Quilt of Valor was presented to Wapwallopen resident Sgt. Timothy J. Ammons by Marie Shulenski, group leader of the Hazleton Area Chapter of the Quilts of Valor Foundation. Shulenski was joined by Quilt of Valor member Debbie Kessell, as they represented members and volunteers all over the country. The organization began in 2003, when a quilter named Catherine Roberts started the movement as her son was deployed in Iraq. Since that time, over 350,000 Quilts of Valor have been awarded throughout our 50 states.
