Brush Fire Breaks Out Near U.S.-Mexico Border
Fire crews from multiple agencies were working a fast-moving brush fire in Marron Valley Sunday near the U.S.-Mexico border. Units were dispatched at 1 p.m. Sunday to reports of a vegetation fire burning in the Tecate Peak area, just a mile north of the border, according to Cal Fire San Diego.
San Diego Humane Society Takes in 50 Animals From Local Residence
Humane Society workers Saturday were bathing and vaccinating dozens of pets after authorities relocated 50 animals from a San Diego County residence. “Our Humane Officers transported 48 cats and two dogs to our campuses for care. Upon intake, each cat and dog were given flea treatment and vaccinations before being placed in appropriate housing,” the San Diego Humane Society said in a statement.

The Surf Club bar & restaurant is now open in the bi-level space that long housed Hello Betty Fish House in San Diego's North County. This past June, after a decade in business, Hello Betty Fish House ended its run on the base floor of SpringHill Suites in downtown Oceanside. The hotel and restaurant space has been taken over by Oram Holdings, a family-owned hotel management company operated by Oceanside-natives Alvin and Kevin Mansour. The brothers also own and operate The Guild Hotel in Downtown San Diego and the incoming Granger Hotel Gaslamp Quarter, and their family has operated many business in North County, including the Haunted Head Saloon on North Tremont Street.
