Welfare Check Leads to Hours-long Standoff in Chula Vista Before Man Surrenders
A man fired a gun into the ground and out of a window at a Chula Vista home Friday, prompting an hours-long SWAT standoff. After negotiations, the suspect exited the home in the 500 block of D Street before 8 p.m., surrendering to Chula Vista police without incident. While the investigation is still unfolding, officials reported on social media, for now the suspect is in custody on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm.
