4-H events are coming to Illinois in a big way
EASTERN ILLINOIS (WTWO,WAWV)– Over the rest of the month of July Eastern Illinois will play host to a numerous amount of 4-H showcases. Clark, Edgar, and Crawford counties all are having 4-H fairs over the coming weeks allowing all their members a chance to show their hard work on the projects they’ve been spending time on. 4-H members have been working on their projects in several fields from dealing with livestock of all shapes and sizes to clothing and textiles, and more. It will take at least two weeks to clear all the downed trees on area roadways. Director of Public Works for Joliet, Greg Ruddy says city crews have been working through the night to clear debris from roads. Ruddy says if you see a tree on the road in Joliet you can call 815 724-3650. But if the tree is on your property, it’s your responsibly to remove it. Ruddy says there are quite a few trees down, about three times the amount they had following Sunday’s storms. No fatalities from last night’s storm in Joliet but one person died after a semi-trailer went down an embankment on eastbound I-80 at Kedzie.
Joliet Refinery Lost Power Monday Night But Says Safety Their Focus
ExxonMobil in Channahon sent WJOL a statement regarding the power outage last night following severe storms. Pete Colarelli, Midwest Public Affairs Manager says they are, “working to restart operations at our Joliet Refinery after we lost power due to severe weather. Our focus is the safety of our people and surrounding community, and our thoughts are with all those impacted.”

Tornado Warnings Around the Tri-Counties Illinois
A Radar indicated tornado warning has been issued for parts of Rock Island, Mercer, Whiteside and Henry Counties. The warning is currently from the Quad Cities to Atkinson but the warning is expected to extend southeast. VERY strong winds have been confirmed with these storms. Funnel clouds have been spotted but any possible spin-up may be rain-wrapped. Stay alert and keep a device with you to stay up-to-date with warnings. Twelve Sent To Hospitals In Joliet After Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Joliet Fire department responded to approximately 100 call during the peak of last night’s storm. Numerous calls for wires down, tree limbs that had fallen on structures and loss of power to residences. No injuries reported from the storm but a carbon monoxide situation occurred due to a basement generator.
