Friday Gamblers, Other Race and Award Winners at IHRA Division 6 Summit Team Finals
PARKER, SD — It was time to double up Friday at the IHRA Division 6 (Midwest) Summit Team Finals at Thunder Valley Dragways. There were two Gamblers races, along with tow-rig, track operators races and best appearing awards presented at the South Dakota drag strip. Paul Sanders took the doubling up literally, winning both No Box races.
Harrisburg wins girls match, draws in boys with BV
HARRISBURG, S.D. (KELO) — Harrisburg hosted Brandon Valley for a soccer doubleheader Saturday. The boys contest opened the day’s action and was played to a scoreless draw. The girls concluded the day, and the Tigers claimed a 2-1 win over the Lynx. The reigning state champions moved to 3-0 on the season with the victory.

Years of learning the secrets hidden within the depths of Lake Oahe brought a Pierre, South Dakota angler his ultimate prize last November. . Setting out by himself in his boat from Swan Creek at Akaska, SD, on Saturday morning, Nov. 11, 2023, Keith Pazour, 44, had only been on the immense lake about 20 minutes when he got action on his line. “I pulled into one of my favorite spots and checked the depth finder. This walleye hit my crankbait like a freight train. It kind of drug me around, and I said to myself, ‘What did I catch here?’ After reeling it in, I dug out my hand scale and knew I was tapping a record.” He got the fish on ice and called Game, Fish and Parks officers. He drove 45 minutes with his walleye to the ramp at West Whitlock Bay to meet for an official weighing at the bait shop.

The St. Paul Lutheran Church in Freeman is quiet on Sunday mornings these days as it is without a permanent lead pastor. Until that spot is filled, the church is using the services of Rev. Brian Mosemann and holding its weekly worship service at 7 p.m. on Saturdays. Mosemann is the pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Menno and St. Paul’s Lutheran in Scotland, alternating locations each week.
Alcester woman convicted of Wire Fraud
An Alcester woman has been convicted of wire fraud. Fifty-seven-year-old Michelle Warner is sentenced to two years in federal prison and over $250,000 in restitution. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Warner was an accountant, and later a business administrator, for Heartland Counseling Services and paid herself unauthorized payroll payments.
