EPA to begin cleaning up site of deadly Clinton Township explosion
CLARENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The EPA has been given the go-ahead to allow crews to begin cleaning up the site of March's deadly explosion in Clinton Township. The EPA will clean up the site of the former Goo Smoke Shop and Select Distributors located near the corner of 15 Mile & Groesbeck Highway. Officials say the building exploded on March 4 because of thousands of nitrous oxide and butane cans that were stored inside.

City of the Week salutes you! This week we throw the spotlight on Clawson shops and cool places around town. Clawson has a great downtown and a lot of character. Clawson was known by another name a long time: Pumachug. The name, Pumachug, originated from the noise that came from the cider mill and sawmill that were located near the intersection of what today is 14 Mile Road and Main Street. It made the noise “puma-chug…puma-chug…puma-chug” all day long! The people of Clawson probably got used to the noise after awhile!
