Indianapolis police officers shot, expected to recover
Update: IMPD noted in an email sent Monday morning, that police have not yet made an arrest relating to Friday's night shooting, which sent one officer to the hospital. The officer is expected to remain in the hospital for several days as he recovers. Lake Monroe’s algae blooms will worsen without prevention
Algae blooms foul the taste of Bloomington’s drinking water most summers, but without prevention the effects could escalate. Indiana State Parks’ Deputy Director of Stewardship Ginger Murphy said blue-green algae thrives in Lake Monroe when nutrient-rich fertilizer and waste wash into the lake. She said algae blooms can produce toxins that endanger people and animals. She said Lake Monroe is safe for visitors provided they shower after swimming, but dogs should stay out of Indiana lakes.
