Cost Of Renovating The Indiana Theater over $28 Million.
Terre Haute, In. – Representatives from Studio Axis informed The Vigo County Capital Improvement Board on Wednesday that the estimated cost of renovating the Indiana Theater will be over $28 million. The study shows that the 100-year-old building is in pretty good shape but there are many issues that have to be addressed. Construction work will cost $22,399,480, with an additional $6 million covering furniture, fixtures and equipment. That translates into a cost of $450 per square foot.
Recycling Center Now Accepting Glass
Terre Haute, In. – The city and Vigo County Solid Waste management have announced that the eastside recycling center is now accepting glass. The glass must be clean and dry. The center also accepts paper, cardboard, aluminum and No, 1, 2 and 5 plastics. The center is located on 14th Street between Crawford and College Avenues.

Illinois Duo Sentenced for Multi-Million Dollar Bank Fraud Scheme and Money Laundering
Two Illinois men, Erik Richard Jones and Mitchell Allen Melega, were sentenced to prison after being convicted of bank fraud and money laundering. They were also ordered to pay nearly $4.84 million in restitution for defrauding First Midwest Bank and misappropriating loaned funds. The sentences were handed down in Rock Island, following their guilty pleas to multiple charges. On July 23, 2024, Erik Jones, of Colona, was sentenced to 54 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release. Mitchell Melega, formerly of Orion, was sentenced to 75 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. They were both ordered to pay $4,840,944.63 in restitution.
