Storm Damage in the Adirondacks
Severe summer storms, torrential rain, and flash flooding have washed out roads, knocked out power to tens of thousands in the Adirondacks and Central New York, and even tornadoes touched down in the Town of Wells, and the City of Rome. This came on top of the flooding & damage caused by the remnants of Hurricane Beryl last week that battered New York and Vermont leaving behind millions in damage. Essex County was hit hard.

Elizabethtown Social Center undergoes renaissance
ELIZABETHTOWN | If people were dogs, then those who have recently used the manifold activities or facilities of the Elizabethtown Social Center, their tails would be vigorously wagging and also loudly barking for joy. Staff from the dog pound would have to be dispatched to the center due to the joyful deafening howls. The numerous efforts by the center include hosting community events, art and fitness classes and running recreation programs for youths and adults. It is located at 7626 Maple St. (Route 9).
