Parade of Homes features 15 houses in July; one in Tell City
The 66th annual Parade of Homes begins July 20 featuring 15 newly built homes by 11 homebuilders. The event will start this weekend on July 20-21 and continue the following weekend, July 27-28. Houses will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.
Popular ‘Summer Fest’ Returns to Owensboro, KY with Fun Changes
Last year, My Sister's Keeper, Owensboro's newest emergency shelter for women and children, held its inaugural Summer Fest fundraiser at The Cottage, just outside the city limits. Summer Fest 2023 was an all day food and music festival that raised money for the shelter, which opened earlier this year at 2820 4th Street. This year, the hours of Summer Fest have been scaled back, but the event is still going to be action-packed- from start to finish- with food, fun and entertainment.
Hawesville Moving Forward with Water Meter pilot
As reported in The Clarion in June, the Hawesville City Council were given a presentation by sales representatives from Fortiline Meter Company. The decision was made to go forward with a pilot/test run of 20 of those new water meters since then, as all of the City’s current meters are out of warranty. At the July 9th meeting, updates were provided on how that ultrasonic system is operating.

World Championships of cornhole come to Owensboro
The anticipation is building in Owensboro as it prepares to host the American Cornhole Organization world championships from Friday through July 27. This event promises to bring together between 800 to 1000 enthusiasts of the beloved backyard game, turning Owensboro into a hub of competitive spirit and camaraderie. Last year was the first time Owensboro hosted this event, where the event generated a significant economic impact, injecting $1.2 million into the local economy.
