    Victim identified in Delaware Avenue shooting death in Lexington

    A uniform citation provided additional information regarding the shooting on Delaware Avenue on Tuesday that left one dead, identified by the Fayette County Coroner's Office as 24-year-old Daquan Collins, and resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old Luis Ramos.

    The citation detailed that Ramos called 911 and stated to dispatchers that he "shot a subject." Upon arrival, the citation reported that Collins was found unresponsive in the driveway of the home on Delaware Avenue. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

    After further investigation, the citation said that Collins was trying to enter his home when he was shot. Ramos told police that it was "self-defense," however, the citation reported that witness statements did not match Ramos' claims.

    A loaded handgun with "hollow-point ammunition" was found in Ramos' vehicle, the citation noted.

    One person has been arrested in connection to the shooting, and the victim who was taken to the hospital has died, according to the Lexington Police Department.

    29-year-old Luis Ramos was arrested at the scene and charged with murder and using restricted ammunition during the commission of a crime, as well as unrelated warrants, according to police.

    Ramos was taken to the Fayette County Detention Center, and police say that the coroner will release the name of the victim.

    One man was left with life-threatening injuries after a shooting that occurred on Delaware Avenue in Lexington on Tuesday, according to the Lexington Police Department.

    Police say they were dispatched at 5:06 p.m. to the 900 block of Delaware Avenue for a verbal dispute. While in route, they were advised that one person had been shot.

    When they arrived, they found one man with a wound from a gunshot. The man was taken to the hospital with what police described as life-threatening injuries.
