This is the last week, Kukie posted online.
“Last week was a great week! I was glad to see everyone,” she wrote. “Thank you for stopping by to say hello, I was sad and happy at the same time!”
Saturday, Aug. 31, will be her last day. She said in her post that inventory in the restaurant, which is closed until Tuesday, will be running low as the week goes on but she hopes to see longtime customers to say good bye ... for now.
“I promise to everyone and our community, if I miss it too much I will return to serve you again,” she said in her post. “I just need a good rest and recharge the batteries.”
She plans to keep the Jasmine Rice name and will do pop-ups at festivals around town.
Jasmine Rice Thai and Vietnamese Restaurant will be closing after Saturday, Aug. 31. The owner has sold the business, which will be reopening as Thai House Lexington later this fall.
In the meantime, a new Thai restaurant will be coming and opening into the location at 911 Winchester Rd.: Thai House restaurant in Georgetown will be expanding into Lexington.

The new owner did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
