Fresh off of winning the 2023-24 men's basketball Division II national championship, Minnesota State-Mankato will get the test of a lifetime when they face Kentucky University in an exhibition game this fall.

The Oct. 29 showdown between the Mavericks and Wildcats will be played at historic Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. The start time has not been announced.

Both universities are in a bit of a transition period. Mankato will try to replace star players Malik Willingham, Dylan Peeters and Elijah Hazekamp, who were the championship team's first, fourth and fifth-leading scorers.

Kentucky, meanwhile, is entering the post-John Calipari era after Calipari moved on from UK to become the head coach at Arkansas. He was replaced by former BYU coach Mark Pope.

After years of dominance on the recruiting trail under Calipari, including the No. 1-ranked class in 2023, per 247Sports, the 2024 Kentucky recruiting class is ranked 42nd in the nation.
