Des Moines River water levels adjusted ahead of holiday weekend
DES MOINES, Iowa — Intense flooding in Iowa this summer has caused water levels to rise, but Des Moines city officials say some levels are now too low. Starting Thursday, water levels on the Des Moines River will be lowered to install flashboards at the Center Street Dam, posing a temporary risk to boaters.

Perry Football Tonight at Des Moines Hoover
Perry football will be kicking off the season in a special way tonight. The Bluejays get the opportunity this evening to face Des Moines Hoover at Mediacom Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:05P and KDLS along with the Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network will be broadcasting the game. Both teams struggled last season. Perry went 2-7 while Hoover was 0-9. Extra Traffic Enforcement Set for Labor Day Holiday Weekend
The Pella Police Department is participating in the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau enhanced traffic enforcement period continuing through Labor Day. Captain Paul Haase says officers are looking for traffic violations to help keep highways and streets safe as more travelers take advantage of the holiday weekend. The extra enforcement period continues through Monday.
