KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman was arrested in Liberty Tuesday night for identity theft, stealing a car and shoplifting.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found a stolen SUV in the parking lot of a Liberty grocery store Tuesday. They did not say which grocery store.

Deputies worked with the Liberty Police Department and store employees to find the driver on store cameras. They saw her shoplifting items.

Deputies were waiting when she exited the store and arrested her.

According to deputies, she had the keys to the stolen SUV. Also in her bag were bank cards, a checkbook and ID cards belonging to at least five other people.

In the car, deputies found items that appeared consistent with recent retail theft and drugs.

The Clay County Prosecutor’s Office is now reviewing the cases.
