Dangerous fire investigated in Benton
Benton, Pa. — An investigation into a Benton fire led to charges being filed against a local man who admitted to setting it intentionally, police said. Eric Michael Kocher, 44, told his neighbors “I’m sending it your way” while standing in front of the fire with a rake at the end of April, Corporal Zachary Martini said. Woman Charged in Fatal Overdose
The Daily Item reports a Schuylkill County woman will go to trial for allegedly providing drugs that claimed the life of a 15-year-old Mount Carmel resident. Victoria Mowry of Ashland has a trial set for October, charged with felony counts of drug delivery. Mount Carmel police say Mowry is responsible for fentanyl that was used in the overdose death of Ricky Payne. Christopher Payne was also charged for Ricky Payne’s death. The Daily Item reports Christopher Payne testified in court that he purchased drugs from Mowry and that his brother Ricky used them the night he overdosed and died.
Cash Stolen from Vehicle in West Mahanoy Township near Frackville
The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville are investigating a report of cash stolen from a vehicle in West Mahanoy Township. According to Troopers, on Sunday, July 21st, 2024, police investigated a report that some removed 20 $100 Bills, totaling $2,000 from the glovebox a GM Acadia which was unlocked and parked on South Line Street. The theft is believed to have occurred between 8:00pm on Saturday, July 20th, 2024 and 1:00pm, on Sunday, July 21st, 2024.
Locustdale Woman Arrested After Shooting Inside Her Home
A Locustdale woman is locked up in Columbia County Prison after she shot up her own home on Monday evening. According to court documents, Ashley Gregis, 41, has been charged with criminal trespass, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, possession, of a weapon, and criminal mischief following the incident that occurred around 9:30pm, on Monday, July 23rd, 2024.
