Four-star offensive tackle recruit Nick Brooks is planning to announce his commitment on Aug. 23. Brooks recently returned to Georgia for his senior season of high school. He’ll play for Peach State powerhouse Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia, this fall. In 2023, Brooks played high school football for John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Gammon Theological Seminary Opens New Student Lounge
Fresh and innovative things are developing on the campus of Gammon Theological Seminary in the Atlanta University Center. Speaking before a crowd gathered at the west side of Gammon Hall, President Dean Candace M. Lewis greeted those in attendance and then spoke briefly about new things happening at her school. On this occasion, she said, at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Gammon Student Lounge, that this was the first of many new things to come at Gammon. The lounge is a special place, with nice bench chairs and tables, comfortable sofas, TV monitors, ample study areas, and other amenities, all designed to make students from Spelman feel welcome. Gammon Hall will be “home” to fifty-one Spelman students this school year, and they will occupy dormitory rooms on the upper and lower levels of the building. GCPS Parent Mentors present: “Starting the School Year on a Positive Note”
Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Parent Mentors invite parents of students receiving special education services at all levels (elementary, middle, and high school) to attend a presentation titled “Starting the School Year on a Positive Note” on Thursday, August 22. Parents and caregivers can expect to receive information to help get the new school year off to a good start. GCPS Special Education Department Parent Mentor Dawn Albanese will be discussing Family Engagement, effective communication, daily routines, self-determination, record keeping, and self-care.
Senior led Stephenson ready for another shot
Stephenson High School’s football team was led by county leading rusher Devin Ingram, who was one of the most prolific running back and kick returners in Georgia last season. Ingram’s senior campaign resulted in 10 wins and the most successful season Stephenson has had under head coach Marcus Jelks, but Jelks said expectations remain high heading into 2024.
