NEVADA, MO — Every young athlete has dreams of playing at the Division I level, but only few get the opportunity and when given the opportunity, you need to make the most of it and that’s exactly what former Nevada Tiger Case Sanderson did in his freshman campaign playing baseball for the University of Nebraska.

When you talk about impact freshmen, you have to talk about Nevada alum Case Sanderson, who made his presence known with the Nebraska Cornhuskers this season.

Case Sanderson said, “It was a great first year and I’m thankful for the opportunity the coaches gave me. It was a really fun, fun experience, a great group of guys and coaches I was surrounded with and yeah, I just went out there and performed well”.

Case finished the year with 26 RBIs and three home runs while hitting with a .338 batting average, and he credits his teammates for pushing him to play at that high of a level.

Sanderson said, “I had guys who were there pushing me as well, you know. I’m very thankful for those dudes, you know. They’re right there by my side and the Lord is definitely blessed me with those opportunities. And I’m forever thankful for that”.

And through it all Case’s parents and family have been there to watch and enjoy his success with him.

Sanderson said, “My family’s been my number one supporters, that’s for sure. They’re showing up to every game that they can, and just being there for me is, it’s really just knowing that, I’m so thankful to have them by my side and knowing that I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them”.

As a freshman, Sanderson played in 54 games for Nebraska, and it was all due to the hard work he put in to make this dream come true.

Sanderson said, “As a little kid, you know, I dreamt of this whole time. And knowing that it came true is just, It’s kind of exciting, that’s for sure. And definitely all that hard work. I’ll just tell myself I’m glad I put that hard work in because I definitely wouldn’t be here. And having my parents, my family, fans, coaches, all of them behind my back and helping me and lead me toward that direction, pushing me each and every day. I wouldn’t be where I’m at. I’m just thankful for what the Lord’s given me and I would just say a dream came true”.

Sanderson will soon get ready for his sophomore season where he said he looks to take on more of a leadership role to help his team in the best way they need him too.
