Notre Dame, Nebraska Top List of Consistently Over-Ranked

Overrated every year. That’s what fans love to say but is it true? It sure is for these programs regularly:

    1. Notre Dame

Since the beginning of time, Notre Dame has been ranked too high. Back in the day they lived up to it from time to time but more recently even with a couple of nice runs, they’re just over valued. It’s not like they’ve been horrible but every year we hear "playoff" or "natty run" and we just don’t see it. And when they do make the playoff (or national title game) we quickly realize they didn’t belong.

    2. Nebraska

They would be No. 1 if it weren’t for the long tradition of Notre Dame being over ranked for decades. Since their dominance a few decades ago, it’s always about Nebraska being back, winning 9 or so and making a run in their conference. And recently, it’s actually been awful. Could this be the year? Fans expect 8-9 wins coming off another losing season.

    3. Miami

They haven’t been relevant since they joined the ACC yet each year we see them in the pre season Top 25. Again this year The U is expected to finish in the Top 25 and I’ve seen them ranked as high as top 20. Every year they are back and every year the experts are wrong.

    4. Texas

Fresh off a playoff run, it’s okay to see Texas in the pre-season top 10. It makes sense. But over the years and especially since Mack Brown left we’ve seen them ranked in the pre-season Top 25 for no reason. I believe Steve Sarkisian has them on the cusp but I’m hesitant because of the hype they always see.

    5. USC

Is there any reason for USC to be in the pre-season Top 25? Not really. Yes, Lincoln Riley has made some solid staff additions but he’s also lost his Heisman QB, has never shown the ability to dial in a defense and they are in a physical conference with more travel.
