Three & Out is Nebraska On3’s feature in which recruiting analyst Bryan Munson gives his weekly takes on topical issues concerning Nebraska football and recruiting.
In this week’s Three & Out , a first look at the top juniors in the state, the Colorado game will be a huge recruiting weekend, and Nebraska is working to get Oregon wide receiver commitment Isaiah Mozee to flip to the Huskers. Here is your Three & Out:
A first look at the in-state 2026 group
The start of the 2025 season is upon us and it’s time to take a look at the top juniors in the state this season. The 2025 class is deep with talent with a couple of national recruits leading the way with Chase Loftin and Christian Jones .
The 2026 class is similar with Millard South teammates Isaac Jensen and Amarion Jackson vying for the top player in the state tag. Landon Von Seggern also holds multiple P4 offers. This is a strong group that you could see several of them pick up offers this fall.
It’s Omaha-heavy, but that is what it is feeling like right now for the top juniors in the state. Did anyone get overlooked? Who else should have gotten a mention? Talk about it on RSS.
Colorado game will be a huge recruiting event
There are some recruiting-friendly weekends to kick off the 2025 season for Nebraska. The first three games start at 2:30 or later. Noon games are difficult for recruits to attend if they are not on a bye or live more than a couple hundred miles away.
The Huskers’ 2:30 start against UTEP, on the other hand, expands the drive time that a recruit can make that morning to reach Lincoln and even makes it possible to get on a redeye from some destinations, like Dallas, for example.
Following the home opener, which starts at 2:30 in week one, Nebraska gets back-to-back 6:30 games in games two and three. In addition to the late primetime spot in the next two games, the Huskers have a premier opponent in town: Colorado. Several of the top 2026 targets on their board are talking about visiting Nebraska that weekend.
It was amazing how many of the recruits the last week in July said they were coming back for the Colorado game weekend:
I have been harping on it. Nebraska needs to push for getting juniors and sophomores on campus as many times as possible this fall. The Huskers can’t lose on weekends when a player chooses to visit another school in a coin-flip decision.
That type of decision has impacts and could keep Nebraska out of other trips, like a junior day in the spring or a spring practice. It may also impact which weekend Nebraska schedules with the recruit for an official visit. We all know how valuable the last weekend in June is.
Mozee could be a big pickup for the Huskers
I realized the day after putting in my prediction for Isaiah Mozee to flip on his commitment to Oregon in favor of Nebraska that something had happened to my confidence percentage.
I must have accidentally scrolled or something to save and still had the drop-down selected, but I meant to put in my confidence level of 70% that day and not the recorded percentage of 40%.
My bad.
But still, my confidence today is greater than 70% that Mozee will end up flipping on his commitment to Nebraska, and the announcement could be coming sooner rather than later. Neither Oregon nor Nebraska want this hanging around longer than it needs to.
The Huskers need a playmaker like Mozee in the class. As a junior, Mozee hauled in 74 receptions for 1,033 yards and averaged 14 yards per catch. He scored 12 touchdowns by way of a reception and added two more rushing.
The other need Nebraska addresses with Mozee is to gain traction in Kansas City. The Huskers have just come up short in the KC metro area. Isaiah and his father, Jamar Mozee, who recently joined the staff at Nebraska under Matt Rhule, will help things for Nebraska in the area.
Jamar Mozee has held several coaching positions in the Kansas City area, including head coach for Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North from 2015 to 2023. He is the winningest coach in school history. He also played high school football at Blue Springs High School and was a two-time player of the year by USA Today and Gatorade.
Getting Isaiah in the boat would be huge for the class and would continue to add talent to an already talented wide receiver room. Mozee is different, though. He has stretch-the-field potential and can make big plays out of short passes into tight spaces.
He’s the type of weapon the class of 2025 needs for Nebraska. A flip is coming, and it feels like it will be sooner rather than later.
