DETROIT – Craig Monroe is “vehemently” denying the social media allegations that resulted in his absence from Detroit Tigers television broadcasts the past few weeks. Monroe has been off the air since the team’s June 7-9 series against the Milwaukee Brewers. On Tuesday, the Tigers and Bally Sports Detroit confirmed his absence is due to allegations made against him by a woman on social media.

Raising the Bar event staged June 13 at Detroit Golf Club
The iconic Detroit Golf Club, which recently was the site of a professional golf tournament, played host to another star-studded event on June 13 when the Detroit Bar Association held its 188th Annual Dinner and awards ceremony. The Raising the Bar event also served as the annual changing of the guard for the Detroit Bar Association, as incoming President Tiffany Ellis (pictured at right) was sworn in to office, succeeding Zenell Brown of the State Court Administrative Office in the key leadership role. Ellis, a partner with Peiffer Wolf in Detroit, is an alumna of the University of Missouri who earned her juris doctor from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.

BIG RAPIDS - Ferris State University hockey defenseman Trevor Taulien, who completed his freshman season with the Bulldogs this past year, has earned an invitation to the Detroit Red Wings Development Camp. Taulien is a free agent invite for the Red Wings’ 2024 Development Camp, which runs July 1 to July 5 at the BELFOR Training Center inside Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. He’s among 50 camp invitees, including 29 forwards, 14 defensemen and seven goaltenders. The camp will be split into two teams – Team Red and Team White – and will feature daily on-ice instruction and skill development from a team of coaches, led by the Red Wings player development staff. Attendees will also take part in NHL-level off-ice workouts and attend presentations designed to help players transition to professional hockey, while experiencing the state-of-the-art player amenities offered at Little Caesars Arena and receiving feedback from Red Wings coaches and management.
