Community leaders and reparations advocates gathered Tuesday afternoon at the 1900 Asbury Ave. headquarters of FirstRepair, where they unveiled a new mural by artist Damon Reed honoring the city’s reparations efforts. FirstRepair is a nonprofit that promotes reparations programs through policy changes in cities across the country. It was founded by former Fifth Ward Council Member Robin Rue Simmons, who led the push for reparations in Evanston during her time on the council.
