Abdoulaye Conde won Wednesday’s “paint out” at Evanston’s Plein Air Festival. Last year, Conde won the prestigious $125,000 first place award at the ArtPrize competition in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On Wednesday, he sold his Arrington Lagoon painting (above) for $300. Conde is an artist, muralist and musician who emigrated from Ghana and moved to the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago in 2022. “I love this so much,” he said of the competition in plein-air style painting. “I love being in nature and meeting friends I can talk to.” Conde will be joining artists on Thursday painting Central Street near Independence Park.
