    Linden Fire Department Holds 2024 Junior Academy Graduation

    Linden, NJ - On Friday, June 28, 2024,The Linden Fire Department Junior Academy held their graduation for the 33 recruits in the program. The graduation was held at the JTG Center and was very well attended. The room was full of excited and proud parents and families to help celebrate the new recruits. Mayor Derek Armstead, Council President Michelle Yamakaitis, and Councilman Barry Javick were also present to join in the celebration.

    The five-day program offered Linden youth graduating from grades 7th and 8th an opportunity to learn about the fire service. Through a series of lectures, demonstrations, and fun hands-on activities presented by members of the Linden Fire Department, the “recruits” learned about fire safety and Linden Fire Department Operations. This year the program had 33 recruits.

    “The Junior Fire Academy provides an opportunity to educate the recruits about the Linden Fire Department, the services we provide and enlighten them on the possibility of a future career in firefighting,” said Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Brady.

    Congratulations to the 2024 graduates. Today is a great day, and I am proud to be the Chief of a department that offers this type of program for the youth," said Fire Chief William Hasko.
