A Salute to the Red, White & Blue
Long Grove Historical Society members shown pictured above (L to R: Dona Blunt, Marie Borg and Marie Roth) were on hand to celebrate Independence Day at Deer Park Village Senior Living. On July 4th, 2024, local artist Marie Roth gave an informative program complete with examples of her original barn wood flags, created from reclaimed pieces of historic barns in Lake and McHenry counties. The presentation was preceded by a delightful performance of patriotic songs by the Deer Park Village chorus, a first-ever performance for this newly established group. Marie Roth shared the stories behind some of the various versions of “Old Glory” that have flown over our country throughout the years. Marie Borg, formerly of Long Grove and now living at Deer Park Village, helped bring this community connection together.
