Fire in 2300 block of Noyes injures one, displaces 14
Evanston Firefighters responded to reports of a fire on the second floor of a multi-family high-rise structure at 2300 Noyes Court last night at approximately 10:40 p.m. Fire companies arrived within minutes and observed occupants evacuating from the structure. Although no smoke or fire was seen from the exterior, the response for high-rise complexes is automatically upgraded to a Working Fire so additional resources can assist with on-scene operations.

Man Shot Near Downtown Parking Garage, Found By Casino
On July 29, 2024, at 5:08 a.m., Officers responded to Harrah’s Casino (151 North Joliet Street) for a male that had arrived at this location after reportedly being shot at a different location in downtown Joliet. Upon arrival, Officers located a 37-year-old male who had sustained a gunshot wound to each of his legs. The Emerson Apartments building, located at 1135 Westgate St., sold for $60,250,000 on July 1. VA8 Emerson, LLC of Irvine, California, purchased the 20-story building from LMC Oak Park Holdings, LLC. The real estate transfer tax, or how much money the Village of Oak Park receives from the sale, is $482,000. The seller fronts that bill, according to Oak Park’s finance department. In Oak Park, the transfer tax is $8 per $1,000 of the sale price.
