Storm Lake Woman Charged With 3rd Offense Operating While Intoxicated
A Storm Lake woman was charged with a felony after she was caught operating under the influence for the third time following a traffic stop this past weekend. According to the Storm Lake Police Department, at approximately 10:25pm Saturday, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a minor violation in the area of East 7th Street and Lake Avenue. Police allege the driver, 35-year-old Gabriela Rivera-Valdovinos, showed signs of alcohol impairment.
Storm Lake Police Officers Receive Award for Education and Enforcement of Impaired Driving Laws
Two Storm Lake police officers received Hero Awards from the Mothers Against Drunk Driving organization. Gerardo Bravo and Thomas Lane were among those honored at an event organized last Thursday by Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the Iowa Cubs. The awards were given to individuals who went above and beyond to save lives through enforcement and education of impaired driving laws last year.
