Columbiana County Fair ends with Catholic Mass

LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) — Sunday morning Bishop David Bonner was at the Columbiana County Fair holding Catholic Mass.

This comes after the Rural Life and Ministry announced that Catholic Mass will be held at County Fairs.

They announced 5 counties and are hoping to add Trumbull County next year.

Father Kevin Peters is the director of Rural Life and Ministry for the Diocese of Youngstown. He says the parishes are impacted by all communities, including urban and rural.

Mass at the fairs helps strengthen those community bonds.

“Everybody goes to the fair whether they’re from the city or the country, so, it’s a good chance to mingle,” Peters said. “And to do that in the context while celebrating is an incredible opportunity for the church to come together both rural and urban.”

Catholic Mass is also set for the Portage, Stark, Ashtabula and Canfield fairs on the last Sunday.
