LITTLE ROCK, Ark – The Little Rock Fire Department says it’s worked more than 10 fires now they’re adding one that happened at an apartment complex to that list.

Doug Coffman with LRFD said it took multiple local crews to put the fire out at the Villas on Sixty Fifth.

“We had close to 10 firetrucks out here,” Coffman said.

He said about 50 firefighters were on the scene getting people to safety, and when they arrived, they were able to put the fire out in the apartments quickly, until flames spread to the attic burning through the roof.

Shayana Jackson was a resident who was rushed out of her home abruptly and said she was unaware as to what was going on but knew something was wrong when she heard sirens.

“We came out of the house and the apartment was engulfed in flames, I mean it was very big,” Jackson said.

She said the fire was intense and it took about an hour to put out. Jackson and her daughter are now worried about what they’ll have left and the next place they’ll lay their heads, a concern that many have.

“I haven’t experienced anything but waiting the time limit for us to go in and salvage some of our stuff,” Jackson said.
