Jayden Danns dealt injury blow as Arne Slot's Liverpool transfer plans impacted

Liverpool youngster Jayden Danns has been dealt a major injury blow that is likely to keep him at Anfield until at least the January transfer window.

The 18-year-old had been tipped for a loan spell away from the club this season in order to further aid his development, with regular game time and experience of men's football two crucial factors in the decision to send him away this campaign.

In fact, it was Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyle who appeared most likely to snap up the teenager , with TEAMtalk previously reporting that the Championship outfit were leading the race for his signature.

It was also added that former England striker Rooney is a big admirer of the Liverpool hot-shot , who would have had the opportunity to learn so much from the Premier League legend had he been able to seal a loan move to Home Park.

However, any plans for Danns to head out on loan for the 2024-25 campaign have been scuppered through injury. The striker had already missed out on Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States this summer and has now been sidelined for two months with a back issue, according to journalist David Lynch .

It means that any loan move for the young forward is now out of the question and he will be forced to remain at Anfield until the January transfer window, when he can again look to seal a loan move away from the club.

This latest setback comes at a crucial time for Danns, who broke through into the Liverpool first-team under Jurgen Klopp last season, making five appearances across all competitions and securing a memorable brace against Southampton in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup at Anfield in February.

There was also an appearance in the Carabao Cup final victory over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium that same month, with Danns playing the final 33 minutes of the 1-0 win in the capital and putting in a credible performance to help his side over the line.

Danns is considered one of Liverpool's brightest young prospects after scoring 19 goals and registering four assists in 25 appearances at all levels for the club last season. In total, he has 29 goals and six assists in just 47 appearances in Liverpool colors.

It's assumed that the plan now will be for the youngster to make a full recovery from injury, before reintegrating himself into first-team training and building up match fitness with the youth sides. If all goes to plan, then hopefully by January he is ready to go out on loan and have a positive second half to the season.
