Liverpool has confirmed that 21-year-old French center-back Billy Koumetio, who signed for the Reds from US Orleans in 2020, has left the club permanently, joining the Scottish Premiership side Dundee .

Koumetio, a former France U18 international, has spent time on loan at Austria Vienna, Dunkerque and Blackburn Rovers but was some way off making a senior breakthrough at Anfield . He played once in each of the Champions League , the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.

Owen Beck, the 22-year-old left-back on Liverpool's books, was on loan at Dundee last season. He was a major success in Scotland and is currently drawing interest from several clubs.

While Liverpool continues to work on a deal for Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad, there could be plenty more departures before the August 30 transfer deadline. Full-back duo Luke Chambers and Calvin Ramsay have already moved to Wigan Athletic on loan and there are many others who could be on the move.

Tyler Morton has drawn interest from RB Leipzig and Sepp van den Berg is wanted by PSV . Meanwhile, Lewis Koumas is heading to Stoke City on loan and several other youngsters including Ben Doak and Bobby Clark could also make temporary exits.

There are now just three weeks left of the summer transfer window. The new EFL season begins this weekend with the Premier League campaign beginning a week tomorrow for Liverpool, away at Ipswich Town.

Liverpool.com says: Koumetio needed to move on for the good of his career. He is a decent player and should have a good future ahead of him but that wasn't going to happen at Liverpool. He will leave with the best of wishes for what comes next.
