Liverpool is still working on a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad with the player still needing to make up his mind about a possible switch to the Premier League .

But while sporting director Richard Hughes is working hard on making a deal happen, there are other players being linked with moves to Anfield as well. Ideally, the Reds would be able to sign a center-back and Anthony Gordon too, though the chances of all of that being possible are slim.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today, including the latest on Zubimendi. Another midfielder is also said to be on Arne Slot's radar.

    Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad)

Liverpool is still working on a deal for Martin Zubimendi and might also have to do some more convincing before the player makes his final call. According to The Independent , though, the expectation is that his decision could come on Monday. Zubimendi does not want to drag things on ahead of Real Sociedad's first match of the season which is next weekend against Rayo Vallacano.

While that would be a timeline of sorts for Zubimendi to make up his mind, Liverpool would also have to work out with his club what might happen in terms of the transfer value. He has a release clause of $66m (£51m/€60m) but by paying more, it is possible that Liverpool could spread the cost over a period rather than pay in one lump sum.

Liverpool.com says: It is surely the case that Zubimendi has given some sort of indication that he wants the move, otherwise Liverpool would not have made an attempt. Hopefully it gets done and there is a breakthrough.

    Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace)

Liverpool is keen on making a move for Crystal Palace and England ace Adam Wharton, according to TeamTalk . But the chances of that happening this summer, no matter what happens with Zubimendi, are slim.

Wharton only moved to Selhurst Park in the middle of last season and has since seen his valuation soar. He could easily be valued at more than $100m these days with Crystal Palace desperate to keep him.

Liverpool.com says: Wharton is a top player but he would be hugely costly this summer. Perhaps it is one that could be revisited in the future, though the competition for his signature would be enormous.
