Richard Hughes 'set to green light' six Liverpool transfers before end of window

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes could be in for a busy end to the transfer window . With the deal for Martin Zubimendi having fallen through , alternatives are required — and there are plenty of potential outgoings too.

It was reported by Wales Online recently that Kaide Gordon could move to Swansea City on a season-long loan. After being injured for so long, he needs regular minutes and has comfortably outgrown U21s soccer. It would be most useful for his development if he could head out for the coming campaign and get regular senior action, with the Championship seeming like a logical step.

Left-back Owen Beck is drawing interest from multiple clubs and Luca Stephenson, a midfielder who played at right-back during pre-season, could move to League One on a temporary basis, The Athletic reports.

The same report says that Liverpool could sanction moves for Bobby Clark , Stefan Bajcetic and Ben Doak as well. At least one or two of those could be permanent exits too.

Two bids have already been rejected by Liverpool for Clark. The ex-Newcastle United starlet uploaded a cryptic social media post earlier in the week and Red Bull Salzburg appears to be edging closer to his $15m (£12m/€14m) valuation. Having been sidelined through injury for most of the summer, the 19-year-old has not played under Arne Slot yet but is very talented.

Bajcetic is also reportedly available for a season-long loan deal. The Spaniard missed almost the whole of last season through injury and is still working his way back to fitness. At Anfield on Sunday, long after the rest of the players had gone inside following the Sevilla game, he was outside on the pitch doing shuttle runs with a fitness coach having only played 16 minutes of the game.

Given Bajcetic is not the first choice at the moment and he is still being slowly worked back up to his peak levels, spending a year somewhere else could make sense. Staying with the Reds, he might struggle for regular action — though minus Zubimendi in the plans for the upcoming campaign, that pathway might just have become slightly less congested.

As for Doak, Leicester City and Southampton are among the clubs interested in a transfer. It has not been ruled out that he could even leave on a permanent basis, the ECHO reports, though that would not be a popular move. If he were to be sold, Liverpool would likely look to insert a sell-on and a buy-back clause into the deal.

Tyler Morton and Sepp van den Berg, valued at around $26m (£20m/€24m) each, might also move, though no club has hit their valuations yet. PSV is keen on the latter but is not prepared to break its transfer record (currently standing at around three-quarters of that sum) by that much.

For those on the far edges of the squad, moves away make plenty of sense. In the cases of Clark, Doak and Bajcetic, though, exits — be it permanent or otherwise — would be a lot more palatable had signings already been made. Losing bodies who could play a role next season without bringing anyone in would be a risk — with the August 30 deadline edging closer.
