Liverpool has finally completed the transfer of teenage wonderkid Alvin Ayman following a two month approval process.

The 16-year-old has joined on a five-year-deal from fellow Premier League side Wolves and will head straight into the Reds Academy, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported last week. Liverpool will also pay Wolves $2.6million (£2m/€2.4m) in compensation.

It was initially reported back in June that the Reds were closing in on signing the defender but a deal has only just gotten over the line after the Premier League ’s 5 step approval process was finally completed.

Introduced in 2016, the drawn out investigation is required before any player can be registered, and can often take a while. This same is currently being done for incoming Chelsea starlet Rio Ngumoha , who is yet to be officially announced.

Nonetheless, Ayman has officially confirmed himself to be a Liverpool player after taking to Instagram to share the news. Alongside a picture of him signing his contract, he wrote: “New beginnings Liverpool FC . Would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Wolves for helping me develop over the past 2 years. God is good.”

The teenage wonderkid becomes the latest talent to join the Reds youth set-up, having only broken through into Wolves’ Under-18s side last season. In fact, Ayman only signed from Bradford City 12 months ago, where he progressed through the ranks after joining at U9 level.

During his time at Bradford, Ayman played as a left-side center-back and also appeared in midfield. He took his impressive form with him to Wolves last summer, making seven appearances in the U18s Premier League that included 73 minutes in April's 4-2 victory away to Liverpool ( Transfermarkt ).

In fact, Ayman's performances for the U18's were so impressive that he was rewarded with two appearances for the U21s in Premier League 2 and even traveled with the first team for its away clash with Manchester City last season.

The teenage sensation, who holds dual English-Egyptian citizenship, is expected to begin as part of Liverpool's U18s, although it would be no surprise to see him fast-tracked into the U21s under Barry Lewtas. If he lives up to the hype, it might not be long before we see him in Arne Slot's first-team squad.
