    Close out summer with Brighton’s Smokin’ Jazz and Barbecue Blues Festival

    BRIGHTON — Looking for good barbecue and music before the summer's out? You might want to visit Brighton the first full weekend of September.

    Brighton’s Smokin’ Jazz and Barbecue Blues Festival is set for Friday-Saturday, Sept. 6-7, on Main Street. The event is presented by the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce and Bank of Ann Arbor, and runs rain or shine.

    What are the festival hours?

    The event runs 5-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, and from 12-10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.

    There will be award-winning barbecue vendors in attendance. Food options include ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, pork tenderloin, sweet treats, specialty mac and cheese and more.

    How much does it cost?

    There is no admission cost for being on Main Street during the festival, but the music venue/beer tent is $7 to enter.

    Tickets can be purchased in advance for $5 at brightoncoc.org . Discounted tickets for both nights can be purchased online for $9 per person.

    What bands are performing?

    The music schedule is as follows:

    Friday:

    • 5-6 p.m. — Sean Dobbins Quintet
    • 6:20-7:20 p.m. — The Brothers Groove
    • 7:40-8:40 p.m. — Brett Lucas Band
    • 9-10 p.m. — Thornetta Davis

    Saturday:

    • 5-6 p.m. — Alex Anest Organ Trio
    • 6:20-7:20 p.m. — Lexie Blue
    • 7:40-8:40 p.m. — Big B & The Actual Proof
    • 9-10 p.m. — Nick Moss Band
