Louisiana woman kills husband and nephew, 8, in horror murder-suicide

A woman in Louisiana earlier this week apparently gunned down her husband and 8-year-old nephew before turning the gun on herself in a gruesome murder-suicide .

The crime scene suggested that Jenny Williamson, 49, fatally shot her husband Steven Williamson, 49, before gunning down her nephew who was living with the couple. Finally, she aimed the gun on herself and took her own life, according to Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard who spoke about the incident at a press conference.

A family member had the displeasure of discovering the blood bath early Monday morning shortly before 8 a.m. when they decided to conduct a wellness check on the family of three. Sheriff deputies responded to the residence at West Bates Road, which is south of Albany, soon after.

The Sheriff's Office had not received any prior calls to the Williamson residence before Monday and no reports of domestic violence had ever come from one of the family members, Ard said. The couple was fairly new to Livingston Parish, having moved from Jefferson Parish just a year prior.

The bodies sat in the house over the weekend by the estimates of the Sheriff's Office who speculated the shooting occurred either late Friday night or early Saturday morning. Ard stopped short of detailing the grisly scene, describing the specific injuries on the victims and shooters and of revealing the child's identity.

The young child was not biologically tied with the Williamson couple but lived with the two under a custody agreement. “These are tough, because the people that are involved are deceased,” Ard said while answering questions from media.

A friend of Steven's, Marrero native Jody Neil, lamented his death, saying he was devastated their friendship was forced to end in tragedy. “I just want people to know that the world lost an amazing person who didn’t deserve to die like this,” said Jody. He'd first heard the news from Steven's brother Darren, who had witnessed the scene with his own eyes.

Coming to terms with his long-time friend's death hasn't been easy, he said likening the realization to a nightmare that had brought forth a feeling of emptiness. “It’s like when my dad died 11 years ago. That’s the feeling I’m having right now. He was that close to me,” he said.

His only escape from that feeling is remembering the good times the two shared. They grew up together in Marrero and over the course of 34 years, laughed, cried and became brothers. They both were avid sports fans who cheered on the New Orleans teams.
