Galesburg needs input from residents about a development project in the city.

The city is hosting a public input meeting on Tuesday, August 20 at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium at Learning Connections of Galesburg, 849 S. Henderson Street. Residents can give their input on the proposed improvements for the Cooke Property Park Development Project. The proposed park is being developed on an open lot at 652 W. Second Street.

Galesburg received an Open Space and Land Acquisition Development (OSLAD) grant in 2024 to develop a park on the property. Proposed improvements include a playground, picnic shelter, restrooms, walking path, parking lot and trailhead. The OSLAD grant award will pay $500,000 of the project and the remaining $500,000 will come from the City of Galesburg.

Farnsworth Group will give examples of imagery for potential facilities and amenities for feedback from attendees at the meeting. The Director of Parks and Recreation and the City Engineer will be on hand to answer questions and provide information. All residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to plan for the future of the park. Contact Don Miles, Director of Parks and Recreation, at (309) 344-3140.
