Clinton firefighters quickly put out a fire at a storage unit early Wednesday morning, according to a news release from the department.

The Clinton Fire Department was called to a structure fire at North Bridge Mini Storage, 2021 McKinley Street, on Wednesday, August 14 at about 2:34 a.m. Camanche firefighters were dispatched as a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) and the Clinton Fire Department responded with two ladder trucks, an engine, three ambulances and a command vehicle.

Heavy smoke and flames were coming from one of the storage buildings when firefighters arrived. A second alarm was called for off duty members to cover the city and six people came in. Crews made a coordinated attack and the fire was under control within minutes of their arrival. Loss Stop was declared at 3:30 p.m. and the scene was turned over to investigations.

The value of the building was $170,000 and damages are estimated at $40,000. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries. One was taken to the ER and both remained on shift. The Camanche Fire Department, Clinton Police Department and Servpro assisted at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
