Police: 2 hospitalized after overnight shooting in Westwood
CINCINNATI — Two people have been shot in Westwood overnight, according to police. Gunfire rang out around 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning in the 3000 block of Bracken Woods Lane. According to Cincinnati police, two people were taken privately to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victims have been identified only as a 23-year-old Black man and a 20-year-old Black woman.

As you may be aware, there was a police incident outside Music Hall on Thursday, June 27, just as our opening night performance of La Traviata (pic) was about to begin. Police Chief Teresa Theetge offered a public statement that police officers had been in pursuit of a suspect accused of attacking a woman in a neighborhood west of downtown. The chase ended near Music Hall, where the armed suspect was shot by police. The suspect died at the scene.
Body recovered from Pigeon River in Newport
Newport Police reported Thursday that the body of a 44-year-old male was recovered Wednesday from the Pigeon River in Newport. According to a press release from Newport Police Chief Scott Lamb, police were called to 170 W. Main Street concerning a body floating in the Pigeon River. Teen accused of making hit list and planning mass killing at school pleads guilty
A teenager accused of making a hit list and planning a mass killing at a high school near Cincinnati pleaded guilty Thursday to reduced charges of inducing panic. Prosecutors dropped a charge against the 14-year-old, leveled in February, of conspiracy to commit aggravated murder. He will be sentenced in July. Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers said the teen had exchanged text messages with a Colorado man about gassing the school and killing students and staff members. Prosecutors decided against charging the man because he had no ability to take part in the plan. The county public defender's office said shortly after the teen's arrest that he had significant mental health challenges and that he was impressionable.Powers said the teen had a hit list with the names of at least eight students and one teacher. The boy was arrested after he told another student about the plan, investigators said.
