Wallace State Nursing hosts job fair for students
HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Nearly two dozen employers were on hand recently to recruit more than 100 Wallace State Nursing students nearing the end of their third semester in the program. That is when they will be allowed to sit for the NCLEX-PN licensure exam to become licensed practical nurses and enter the workforce with those credentials.
Longtime Hewitt-Trussville coach inducted into national hall of fame
The state capital’s airport may have been small, but the trip was a big one. Longtime Hewitt-Trussville head football coach Jack Wood was announced as an inductee into the National High School Athletics Coaches Association Hall of Fame in June. He attended the induction ceremony in Bismarck, N.D. — his first trip to the state.

The Cougars won the Class 6A state championship for the fourth time in program history last fall, putting together an undefeated campaign that included a thrilling victory over Saraland in the state final.
Potential tax increase in Trussville to fund new school facilities amid growing population
Residents in Trussville will vote on whether or not they want to see an increase in their property taxes on August 27th. The millage rate would increase from 62.1, to the max the state allows at 75. The 12.9 increase would go towards three projects for Trussville City Schools. Mayor Buddy Choat said the additional tax would generate five million annually. Currently, more than 30 mills of the property tax goes towards schools.
