    Drunk driver kills pedestrian in San Joaquin County

    (FOX40.COM) — A pedestrian was pronounced dead after being hit by an alleged drunk driver in San Joaquin County on Thursday night, according to the Lodi Police Department.

    Around 9:40 p.m., LPD officers said they responded to the intersection of Cherokee Lane and Elm Street in Lodi for a report of a vehicle that hit a pedestrian man. He was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

    Vacaville officer struck, killed while making a traffic stop

    Police said the driver of the involved vehicle, a 49-year-old man, remained at the scene of the crash and was found to be driving under the influence. He was arrested for alleged DUI, vehicular manslaughter, and other felony-related charges.

    The identity of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification. Anyone with information about this incident is advised by law enforcement to call the Lodi Police Department or Officer Ramirez at gramirez@lodi.gov and reference case #24-4931.
