    Girls soccer: Lodi ties Evansville, edges Columbus

    Unbeaten in their last four matches, the Lodi girls’ soccer team edged Columbus 1-0 and tied Evansville during a four-game homestand.

    Anna Balfanz’s goal in the 65th minute on Tuesday, May 14, lifted the Blue Devils over the Cardinals in a hard-fought Capitol North Conference victory, as Lea Traeder assisted.

    Quetzal Peterson made seven saves for Lodi (6-5-3 overall, 2-2-1 in the Capitol Conference).

    Two days later, Lodi hosted Evansville, as Traeder scored both Blue Devil goals. Traeder put the Blue Devils on top 1-0 in the seventh minute, with Gracie Clary assisting.

    Evansville grabbed the lead with two goals in a nine-minute span, before Traeder tied it up in the 61st minute, as Adysen Young assisted.

    Portage/PoynetteMerrill scored two late goals to tie the United co-op 2-2 on Friday, as the Portage/Poynette co-op (1-12-1 overall, 0-6-0 in Badger Small Conference play) surrendered a 2-0 lead.

    Lyla Brown scored both United goals, one in the 37th minute and another in the 50th. Madison Fernandez assisted on Brown’s first goal. Merrill scored a goal in the 60th minute and the tying goal in the 74th minute.

    Sofia Aguilar and Josie Gallegos combined for four saves in net for United.

    On Tuesday, May 14, United suffered a 10-0 drubbing, despite 11 saves from Gallegos.
