7-18-24 doa secretary visits new housing development in juneau
Juneau, WI – July 16, 2024 – Department of Administration (DOA) Secretary Kathy Blumenfeld visited a new housing development in Juneau, Wisconsin on Wednesday, June 10. This project is partially funded through the Neighborhood Investment Fund, administered by DOA to Dodge County Housing Authority (DCHA) through a grant sponsored by the City of Juneau. “The City of Juneau is pleased to sponsor this grant and to welcome these quality housing units to our community,” said Mayor Dan Wegener. The Sunset View project, developed and managed by the Dodge County Housing Authority is different from other DCHA programs as it is focused on moderate income households to address the need for workforce housing. “Affordable housing isn’t just low income,” said Donna Braun, Executive Director of DCHA. “Everyone needs an affordable place to live. This project is expected to provide much-needed relief for families struggling with housing costs.” Sunset View consists of 30 two- and three-bedroom duplex units featuring 1.5 baths, granite counter tops, energy efficient appliances, natural gas furnace, central air, basements and attached garages. They are within walking distance to Dodgeland K-12 school, stores, restaurants, clinics and jobs, making it a prime location. “The Neighborhood Investment grant allowed us to build market quality, energy efficient units in an affordable rent range,” Braun said. “Housing is the foundation to build success. With an affordable place to live, families and communities thrive. We look forward to moving families into these new homes.” “The Sunset View development in Juneau is a shining example of what can be achieved when private enterprises, state agencies and local governments work together to invest in our neighborhoods,” said County Administrator Cameron Clapper. This development is part of a broader initiative to address housing affordability and accessibility across Wisconsin. By leveraging state resources and local collaboration, projects like this aim to create a sustainable future for families and communities. Partners in this project include:
