A preliminary investigation by law enforcement revealed that the shooting “appeared to be the result of a road rage incident,” which involved 21-year-old Joseph Brewer of London.

Brewer and another driver were reportedly entangled in a road rage incident, when 21-year-old Jayden Jackson, who was not involved in the initial confrontation, allegedly got out of his car and “was shot almost immediately,” by Brewer, per LCSO.

Law enforcement said Jackson was shot twice in the torso and was taken first by another bystander, and later by emergency personnel to Saint Joseph Hospital London, where he was then flown to UK Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

Brewer was charged with first-degree assault, with additional charges possibly pending, according to authorities. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
