A man was shot and wounded in Long Beach, authorities said Monday.

The shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of Locust Avenue, according to Long Beach police Lt. Royce Wexler.

"Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim who sustained a gunshot wound to his lower body," Wexler said.  "Officers performed life saving measures and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition."
