Four people, including two suspects, were hospitalized after a high-speed police pursuit of a stolen vehicle ended with a violent crash in Long Beach Monday.
The incident unfolded just before 5:30 p.m. as officers with the Long Beach Police Department were chasing the suspect vehicle eastbound on 4 th Street when a collision occurred.
According to a LBPD news release, the preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the allegedly stolen vehicle ran a redlight on 4 th Street at Cherry Avenue when a passenger vehicle traveling on southbound Cherry Avenue smashed into the suspects.
“The impact caused the suspect vehicle to strike three unoccupied parked vehicles at the scene,” the release noted.
The adult male driver of the suspect vehicle exited the car and attempted to flee the area on foot, police said.
He was later taken into custody in the 2000 block of Florida Street.

In footage of the aftermath obtained by KTLA, police can be seen with guns drawn on the dark colored suspect vehicle, where the passenger was trapped in the wreckage.
The suspect can be heard telling officers that he can’t exit the vehicle, saying, “I can’t, I’m hurt.”
Video captured personnel with the Long Beach Fire Department working to extricate him from the vehicle as crowds gathered on the street to watch the scene play out.
Both suspects were taken to the hospital with upper body injuries, where they were listed in stable condition.
Two men in the passenger vehicle, who were uninvolved in the pursuit, both sustained upper body injuries as well. They were rushed to the hospital and were also listed in stable condition.
The area around 4th Street and Cherry Avenue was closed while investigators collected evidence and crews worked to clear the debris.
No information about the identity of the suspects or the victims was released.
