Quad Cities fires back after insult from Tyrese Haliburton on 'The Pat McAfee Show'
MOLINE, Ill. — The Quad Cities caught a stray during ESPN's "The Pat McAfee Show" after Indiana Pacer Tyrese Haliburton mentioned his girlfriend is a QC native. Haliburton joined the show Wednesday to talk sports, and while discussing Haliburton's alma mater Iowa State University, Haliburton mentioned that his girlfriend is from the Quad Cities.

The Street Outlaws No Prep Kings are dedicating this weekend’s event to the late Lizzy Musi. She passed away late Thursday night. The No Prep Kings drivers are in Cordova Raceway in Cordova, Illinois for their last race in the first part of the season. They’re going to try to make it through a very tough weekend.

Hawks Try Take Two on Day Two at U of I
After a Friday washout, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team has plans to travel back to Iowa City to try to get in games scheduled for the second day, Saturday, of the University of Iowa Tournament. The slate includes a morning game with Davenport Central and an afternoon affair against Davenport West. Mid-Prairie enters play with a 7-18 overall record after splitting a doubleheader with Durant Monday in Kalona, beating the Wildcats in extras in game one 10-9 before bowing to Durant 5-1 in game two. On the year, the Hawks hit .298 as a team, with a .390OBP and .391 slug, scoring 129 runs on 173 hits with 59 walks and 115 strikeouts. Individually, five Golden Hawks are hitting . 300 or better, led by Dakota Mitchell at .420 with 29 total hits and 28 runs scored. Kadence Grout is the team leader with 17RBI. Grout also leads in the circle with a 5-11 record and .367 opponent average on 142 hits, 66 earned runs 19 walks, 32 strikeouts and a 5.59ERA.
Former QU assistant baseball coach becomes head skipper at NCAA Division II Saint Leo
SAINT LEO, Fla. — Josh Keim is climbing the coaching ladder. After four highly successful seasons at Black Hawk College in Moline, Ill., the former Quincy University assistant baseball coach was named the head coach at NCAA Division II Saint Leo University on Friday, replacing Rick O’Dette, who resigned June 13.
