Genesius Guild's “Plutus,” July 20 through 28
Returning for their third consecutive blast of season-ending silliness in Rock Island's Lincoln Park, the Haus of Ruckus duo of Tee Green and Calvin Vo will lend their signature wit – and that of Guild founder Don Wooten – to a new version of the Aristophanes comedy Plutus, its July 20 through 28 run treating patrons to, as Green says, “an example of satire written in ancient Greece that still holds up in 2024. Which is a bummer.”

Davenport resident earns national Corps of Engineers award
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Mark Cornish of Davenport has been selected as the recipient for the 2023 Civil Works Planning Excellence Award. According to a media release, Cornish was selected by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Headquarters in Washington, D.C., for the award for his work on the Lock and Dam 22 Fish Passage project.

BELLE PLAINE, Iowa (KCRG) - Inside Drahos Shoe Store, on Main Street in Belle Plaine, lives generations of knowledge. “My grandfather was a Shoemaker in Bohemia. In 1904, he immigrated to the US. He was 17 years old. He had $22.60 in his pocket,” says Dan Drahos, the current owner and operator of Drahos Shoe Store. Don’s grandfather used those talents to start up a shoe repair business in Belle Plaine during the Great Depression, and eventually passed the business along to his son.

North Iowa Woman Gets Up to 10 Years in Prison Stealing Over $100K from Employer
A north Iowa woman could serve up to a decade in prison for stealing more than $100,000 from her employer. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40-year-old Malorie Hallock of Mason City last November after she was accused of embezzling the money while she worked at Studio 65 in Clear Lake, stealing $123,000 in business deposits between January and October of 2023. The criminal complaint says Hallock deposited the money into her own account.
